​Manager of Operations: Part-time

Kitchen Possible, a nonprofit committed to fostering empowered mindsets in kids through the transformative experiences of cooking, is searching for a highly organized individual to join our team as Manager of Operations

About Kitchen Possible: 

Established in 2018, Kitchen Possible works to build empowered mindsets in children in some of Chicago’s most historically disinvested communities through free cooking lessons. We believe that cooking isn't just about delicious and wholesome food; it's about instilling confidence, resilience, a sense of possibility, and a make-it-happen attitude in young minds. Through a hands-on, mentorship model, our program teaches kids to step outside of their comfort zones and to approach challenges with creativity and determination.  

Role Overview: 

As Manager of Operations, you'll play a key role in delivering quality programming to Chicago youth, as well as setting the organization up for success as it grows. Your focus will be on program coordination, volunteer coordination and administrative management. This is a part time role, requiring 20 hours per week. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with founder and our community center partners to ensure seamless execution of Kitchen Possible programming

  • Manage logistics of weekly classes, including grocery orders and supply management

  • Recruit, coordinate, and oversee volunteers

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of program participation and class parent-reported program outcomes

  • Handle inquiries and communication from parents, schools, and community partners

  • Monitor and manage inventory of kitchen supplies and equipment

  • Manage organization of class photos, recipes, and class material in Google Drive online filing system. 

  • Manage ongoing website updates via SquareSpace

  • Draft and manage social media posts, in collaboration with Founder

  • Manage communications and material distribution for annual Empowering Menus Fundraiser (in partnership with Chicago restaurants)

  • Partner with Manager of Development to create annual report

  • Support Founder in organizing quarterly Board meetings (including attending meetings)

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years proven experience in operations management or related roles within the non-profit sector (experience outside of non-profit sector will be considered)

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with track record of managing relationships across a range of stakeholders

  • Passionate about empowering children and fostering life skills through cooking experiences

  • Self-motivated, resourceful, adaptable, and capable of thriving in a remote work environment

  • A make-it-happen attitude and willingness to move ahead when there’s no clear map

  • Design experience is a plus

  • Must live in Chicago, IL

Benefits:

  • Flexible 20 hour workweek, remote work (10% work will be in-person, including site visits, supply dropoffs, volunteer trainings, etc)

  • Competitive compensation aligned with your skills and experience, $35-$40/hr
